Library skills for English 1111 online: Books online

Finding book sources online

Online students can use books as part of research; electronic books, or e-books, are books made available in full text via the computer. If your instructor asks for a book source you can use e-books. Books are helpful when you need an overview of a topic, background information, or a historic perspective.  Books can also give you different authors' points of view.

The Electronic Books Center is a full text library of books you may access and read on the computer.  These are library books, not information from the internet. After clicking on the Electronic Books Center use the keyword search box to find a list of books related to your topic.  When you choose a title you will be able to click through the table of contents to display the full text of the book. You read the books online, you do not download them. The brief video in the next box will show you the basics of the Electronic Books Center. Click on the play arrow to watch a one minute video of the Electronic Book Center in action. To view the video larger use the arrows icon at the bottom right to go to full screen.  Press the Esc key on the keyboard to exit full screen. For more advanced information or examples please contact a librarian; contact information is in the box below.

As a Clark State student you can use the libraries at most colleges and universities in Ohio through our OhioLINK partnership. Check the map to find an OhioLINK library near you. For help finding a print book please contact a librarian.
